Optical Design of Counter Beam Light for Road Tunnels
Ming-Jui Chen;Hsiao Yi Lee

Counter beam light plays essential important role in road tunnel lights. Through appropriate arrangements of counter beam light with other lights, the Black/White hole effect and transient adaptation of the tunnel to the driver can be reduced. We use the optical design software-LightTools to optimize the counter beam type fixture.

Run-Kai Shiu;Justin Chiu;Peng-Chun Peng;Tsu-Lin Chang;You-Wei Chen;Qi Zhou;Shuyi Shen;Gee-Kung Chang

A tunable bandpass filter consisting of a comb generator for achieving centralized management of radio signal delivery is experimentally demonstrated. With large tenability and high optical signal-to-noise ratio, the proposed optical comb-based filter provides flexible tunability. The experimental results correlate with the simulation results and theoretical analysis.

Study of US SAE Reflex Reflector Efficiency influenced by Corner Cube’s Round Angle
Hien Thanh Le;Lanh Thanh Le;Hsin-Yi Ma;Hsiao-Yi Lee

A reflex reflector is composed of pin arrays with a round angle on CCR. We found that the round angle influences the reflectance efficiency. Our experiment demonstrated that with a smaller round angle, the reflectance efficiency is found that higher. Particularly, with R=0.1mm,32.83% higher is obtained compared with R=0.3mm

Homogeneity Evaluation of the Nacre Layer in Pinctada fucata martensii via Nanoindentation Tests
Mai Hayamizu;Hiroshi Murotani

The purpose of this study was to examine the spatial uniformity of pearl nacre. Indentation hardness was measured via nanoindentation tests, and both the indentation hardness and standard deviation increased with increasing indentation depth. These results suggest that the structure of nacre is not uniform.

Special considerations of the readout circuit for PIN sensor
Chun Chieh Liao

The digital and analog signals are generated by light receiving elements that are in
the optical sensors designed by ourselves. After the signals are analyzed, the configuration of
cathodes can be fixed in the subsequent experiments. Then, the configurations of sensors’ pins
are discussed in the experiment of bandwidth tests. Finally, the best experimental configuration
can be found and used in future experiments.

Yu-Yu Chen;Tsai-Ling Li;Tzu-Hsin Wang;Tsung-Chia Hsueh;Ming-Ruei Jiang;Chun-Yi Tsia;Ming-Li Jou;Jwo-Huei Jou

Myopia ratio has risen drastically in students. We found the safe reading time to depend on the seating location in classroom, because the illumination levels are significantly different at different locations. The results showed the safest spot is located at the front corners, allowing more than 50 minutes reading time.
