Perovskite Quantum Dot Light-Emitting Technology: Challenges and Opportunities
Chih-Jen Shih

Perovskite quantum dots (QDs) are emerging as one of the most promising candidates for the monochromatic light-emitting diodes (LEDs) approaching the Rec. 2020 color gamut due to their extremely narrowband emission. Near-unity photoluminescence and emission directionality in the closed packed films make them promising for light-emitting applications.

Elimination of Ghost Image in See-Through Holographic Display
Cheng-Ta Mu;Sze-Han Tseng;Cheng-Huan Chen

A see-through holographic display on the concept of partial hologram has been proposed, and the influence of transparent area distribution on the ghost image has been investigated and simulated with scalar diffraction theory. The result shows that the random- distributed holographic area can eliminate the ghost image.

Enhanced Out-coupling in Organic Light-Emitting Diodes via Polyimide/SiO2 composite films
Chung-An Hsieh;Yi-Jyun Wang;Rui-Hua Yan;Yung-Chung Chen;Li-Yin Chen

We demonstrate polyimide/SiO2 composite films as the external light extraction layers (ELELs) for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The external quantum efficiency of the device utilizing ELEL with 26 wt.% SiO2 concentration reaches 24.8%, which enhance the out-coupling efficiency up to 21.0%, compared to the device with standard configuration.

A front bistable twisted nematic film realizes bistable switching of polarization grating diffractions
Te-Wei Chiang;Chun-Ta Wang;Alwin Tam;Man-Chun Tseng;Chung-Yung Lee;Tsung-Hsien Lin;Hoi-Sing Kwok

Bistable switching of grating diffractions is achieved by adding bistable twisted nematic cell diffractions to liquid crystal polarization grating. The two polarization states of the sample can be switched by applying a voltage. The design can control the beam and selectively diffract. With electrical switchability, it has favorable applications.

Uniformity Improvement of Passive-Matrix Micro-LED Displays by Interconnection Overlay
Hsuan-Jen Chen;Shuo-Huang Yuan;Po-Wei Chen;Shih-Siang Yan;Ray-Hua Horng;Dong-Sing Wuu

A 64×32 passive-matrix blue micro-LED display with high forward-voltage uniformity was successfully fabricated. A thin Ti/Al/Ti/Au multi-layer was deposited upon n-GaN to reduce the series resistance. The 50*50 μm2 LED chip shows the output power of 0.8 mW, forward voltage of 3.0V, and external-quantum efficiency of 10% at 1 mA.

Efficient and Highly Transparent Organic Light Emitting Diodes with Transparent Conducting Oxide Top Cathode
sheng wen wen;min chia lee;bo kai wang;yi ting chen;wei kai lee;chung chih wu

We report a high performance transparent OLED with transparent conducting oxide as top cathode. The total EQE of >17% is achieved by using HATCN as an organic buffer layer and good electron injection layer simultaneously. Moreover, it shows high average transmittance of around 80% over the whole visible range.
